Interests: Tea, sandwiches, and worrying

Bio: Cappy’s real name is Toby, but no one calls him that.  He got his name because his mushroom cap reminded his friend, Marv, of a shower cap.  Cappy has never admitted if this bothers him, but he doesn’t always answer to Toby either.

Like many Worrywort Toadstools, Cappy is very good at worrying.  His favourite topics to worry about are teatime, sandwiches, and what he is going to worry about next.

When he isn’t worrying (which isn’t very often), Cappy enjoys having tea parties with his friends among the Toadstool Tribe.  His favourite sandwiches are egg salad, but he is also partial to the occasional Nutella sandwich.

Interests: Picnics, observing, and collecting secrets

Bio: Marv is a typical red capped mushroom with white spots.  He is one of the oldest members of the Toadstool Tribe and has been at Grimalkin’s Rest for a long time.

During his time the Rest, he has made it his mission to collect as many secrets as possible.  He does this mostly through observation.  It’s funny how often people (and other creatures) don’t realise that there is a Mushroom nearby.  This is especially true of Marv who is very good at keeping quiet.

No one is quite sure how many secrets Marv has gathered because he is obsessive about keeping them.  No matter how juicy the gossip, if it is a secret Marv will not share it.  This is quite unique amongst the Toadstool Tribe, who generally thrive on gossip.  Due to this Marv has become a favourite confidant of many residents of Grimalkin’s Rest.

Despite this, (or perhaps because of it), Marv has now decided it is time to leave Grimalkin’s Rest and seek a new home out in the mundane world.  It’s not clear if he’s just seeking a new source of secrets or if he wants to escape some, but regardless, wherever he ends up just know he will always keep any secrets he comes across.

Interests: Flowers, especially poisonous ones, and sweets

Bio: Despite the slightly menacing skulls that decorate her cap, Daisy is one of the friendliest Toadstools around Grimalkin’s Rest.  She loves flowers and anything sweet.  This has caused her some issues with the local bees.  Whilst they agree with her about flowers, the bees aren’t always ready to share their honey.

Daisy’s interest in poisonous flowers grew from the way some people (and creatures) treated her differently because of the skulls on her cap.  It made her sad that people sometimes assumed she was mean or scary just because of her looks.  This led her to seek out other things that got misjudged due to their appearance or traits.

When she isn’t researching poisonous flowers, Daisy enjoys going on picnics and having tea with her friends.

Interests: Naps

Bio: Liza the Cloud Shroom really enjoys naps.  They feel that there is nothing quite as satisfying as stretching out to sleep whenever the urge strikes.  It doesn't matter how well they sleep at night, it just never feels quite as good as a nap.

Favourite napping spots for Liza include hidden in a cupboard, underneath a table, and on particularly squishy cushions.  It’s even better when the hidden naps can be combined with the cushion.

There have been the odd times that Liza has been rudely awoken from a nap they took in a hidden location, but they still think it was worth it.

When they can be dragged away from a good nap, Liza enjoys having tea with their friends.

Interests: Art, fashion, and the gentlemanly pursuit of boxing.

Bio: Sir Sebastion Coralbottom of the Mossy Rocks Coralbottoms is a snail of Worth.  His family moves among the highest echelons of snail society.  He has wealth, charm, and a keen wit, making him one of the most eligible bachelors among the Ton.

Though he has so far avoided the matchmaking mamas of the Ton, there are rumours that the death of his father has left him with an ultimatum.  He is to find a bride by the end of the Season or his nefarious cousin will become the heir to his title.

What can a snail of Worth do in this situation but brave the balls and parties of the Ton in search of a bride?

Interests: Purple flowers and getting into mischief

Bio: Petal is a flower fox.  She loves all things purple, especially flowers.  You can usually tell Petal from the other flower foxes by the purple flower wreath she wears.

Like most of the elemental foxes, Petal has a penchant for mischief, although it’s usually good natured.  Her favourite trick is to hide in a pile of purple flowers and then jump out at anyone who passes by.  Sometimes it’s a bit of a shock but Petal’s giggles are so infectious that she usually gets away with it.

Petal helps to look after the flowers around Grimalkin’s Rest.  She makes sure they are watered, mulched, weeded, and happy.  Watching them bloom always fills Petal with joy.

Interests: Stars and daydreams

Bio: Twyla is an elemental fox of night, particularly twilight.  She loves watching the sun set and the stars come out at the end of each day.  It amazes her how the stars never really go away; we just can’t see them until the conditions are right.

Every evening, Twyla settles onto her favourite rock and tries to count the stars as they appear.  So far, she’s only managed to count about twenty before losing track, but she keeps trying.  Twyla is determined that one day she will count them all and, in the meantime, she is going to enjoy every attempt.

When she isn’t watching the stars, Twyla enjoys daydreaming and pondering random questions.  She often wonders about each star and how they feel.  Do they like being stars and how do they feel about being invisible during the day?  Sometimes she imagines conversations with the stars where she can reassure them that even if we can’t always see them, we know that they are there.

Interests: Flowers, dirt, and digging holes

Bio: Ren is a flower fox who loves digging holes.  She likes to say that every good garden starts with a hole.  Sometimes she means an actual hole in the ground, other times she just means that a garden needs an empty space.  Either way, nothing seems to have proven her wrong yet.  Ren is very proud of this.

Digging holes gives Ren the opportunity to play with her second favourite thing, dirt.  She loves all kinds of dirt and is a firm believer that there are no bad soils just bad matches between soil and plant.  This has led her to doing lots of research on different types of soil, fertilisers, and what different plants need.  Ren is the first fox anyone consults when they have something new to plant.

When she isn’t digging or researching dirt, Ren enjoys playing with the other elemental foxes around Grimalkin’s Rest.  She especially loves hide and go seek but has never quite figured out why everyone always looks for her in the nearest hole.

Interests: Bees and the Odd Duck Society

Bio: Ganix is a Satyr with black hair and fluffy black goat legs.  He’s been at Grimalkin’s Rest for quite a long time and is the founding member of the Odd Duck Society.

It is claimed that Ganix created the Odd Duck Society after someone called him a bit of an odd duck.  He liked this so much that he decided to start a group for all those who are decidedly themselves, even if others sometimes find this a bit strange.

The stories of how Ganix came to be called an odd duck have been so wildly exaggerated that it is unlikely anyone will ever uncover the truth of it.

Ganix is a beekeeper by trade and keeps several hives.  It’s very rare to see Ganix without a bee nearby or perched on his horn.  He makes sure that his bees always know what’s going on around Grimalkin’s Rest and in return they give him the sweetest honey they can make.

Interests: Helping people

Bio: Bean is a good-natured young satyr who loves to be helpful.  He is usually found with, or chasing after, his best friend Sprout.

Sprout is very food focused, which sometimes gets him into trouble, and it is usually Bean that has to get him out of it.

No matter what mess needs to be cleaned up, or what tempers have been ruffled, Bean is always happy to step in and lend a hand.  Some people think that Bean is a bit silly or lets himself get taken advantage of, but really, he just doesn’t see the point in getting upset about nothing.  He knows his energy is better spent being a positive force and getting things done.

Those who know Bean always feel that the hard things are just that bit easier when he is around to lend a hand and share a smile.

Interests: Archery and sketching

Bio: Meg is a protector of nature and very skilled with her bow.  She is quick to draw it if she thinks something within her domain is threatened but will only shoot if she absolutely has to.  Usually, the warning is enough.  Her reputation as an archer is well known.

When she isn’t patrolling her bit of the wild forest, Meg can often be found with a sketchbook and pencils.  She loves to sketch the things she sees around her, wherever she happens to be.  This has led to a very eclectic sketchbook, filled with a wonderful mix of plants, flowers, people, and places.

Meg often says that art and archery aren’t that different.  They are both about seeing the world around you and noticing the small details.

Interests: Gardening

Bio: Rue might be a protector of nature, but she is a gardener at heart.  She takes great care of her section of the wild forests, making sure each plant and tree has just what it needs to thrive.

Hidden within a clearing in the heart of her domain is her happy place.  A carefully tended wild garden with an eclectic mix of flowers, herbs, and vegetables.  Rue spends as much time as she can in her garden and is very proud of each and every harvest.

Rue is greatly sort after by the various cooks, healers, and makers around Grimalkin’s Rest.  They all know that her herbs and vegetables are among the best and if they ever need anything rare or unusual, Rue most likely grows it or will be happy to try.

Interests: Puzzles and problem solving

Bio: Yes, he knows exactly what colour he is and prefers the term lightish red, thank you very much.

Mephis is the child of a low-ranking Demon and a Satyr.  No one quite expected him to turn out so… light, but those with demon blood are often unique.

After a childhood spent fighting anyone who mentioned his colouring, and not quite sure what else to do, Mephis followed his father into the army.  He proved to be a competent, if careful, soldier, with some talent for strategy.

Being a soldier taught Mephis that fighting is rarely the best solution to a problem.  This led him to take up the scythe as his primary weapon.  It looks intimidating but is unwieldly enough to encourage finding alternate solutions.  Don’t underestimate him though, Mephis is very skilled with a knife and will use it if pushed.

Interests: Music and mischief

Bio: Scamp is a bard and a lover of all music.  His instrument of choice are panpipes, but he also sings beautifully.

Most of the time Scamp can be found among groups of people.  Whilst he is generally providing entertainment, he also knows when to be quiet and listen.  Like many bards, Scamp is a well versed in gossip and stories, as the news from different places.

Scamp loves to travel and explore new places but gets bored if he can’t leave when he wants to.  A bored Scamp can be a dangerous thing to have around.  If left to long, Scamp likes to create pranks, traps, and practical jokes to liven things up.  Whilst these are never truly malicious, they are rarely much fun for those who get caught.
